Crimson Bamboo have just published my latest Angkor Wat tour for their IPhone RAMA application. The tour takes you around Angkor Wat in a circuit full of nostalgia. Old images of the temple help you visualize how the temple was found in the late 19th century, and experience the awe of discovery of the early explorers. I have tried to be as thorough as possible, even though Angkor Wat is still a mystery for scholars. We still don’t know if it was a Hindu temple or a mausoleum for king Suryavarman II, but what ever its purpose was, it is clear that it was a stairway to the heavens. If you have a chance to visit the site, I recommend you to follow this tour which will give you not only information about the temple, but it will also transport you to the Golden Age of Travel.
Also available for RAMA app is the Angkor Thom tour, which will reproduce that aura of nostalgia around the fabulous city of Angkor Thom. If you are traveling on your own and you love stories of discovery and exploration, you are going to love this set of tours and the old photographs that illustrate them.
